I have a confession to make. It’s kind of embarrassing but if you know me in real life you may not that I’m not very organized. I can’t deal with clutter but have a house full of it. No idea how to handle it so I shove it in a room or shove it in a drawer to get it out of sight. I’ve read books about downsizing and I would love to work towards that but right now with two small kids I’m just going to have to learn to deal with it.
Part of my mission for starting this blog was to help me get organized. Force me to get organized so I can share my journey. My plan is to show everyone how a complete hot mess mom can somehow get it together.
My first project I tackled was the linen closet. Yikes, I don’t know how to fold sheets. Do you know how to fold sheets? I’ve seen a million posts on Pinterest on how to fold sheets but this skill still escapes me. When you open up your closet to grab a towel do they all fall on your head? I’m guessing they do not but maybe they do for some of you.
An embarrassing before photo.
For my project I purchased five large utility totes. I sorted them by bath towels, hand towels and facecloths, kids bedding, guest bedding and master bedding. If I would have been really thinking ahead I would have personalized the totes so it would be super easy to know what is in each tote so instead I made a note on the shelves below the totes.
I’m impressed with the outcome. The clutter is contained. And I’ve read that its important for everything to have its place and now it certainly does.Michelle
